Christine Poulsen Awarded NWPE Grant for Science Activities

Congratulations to Ms. Christine Poulsen, fourth grade at Kershaw Intermediate School in the Sugar Salem School District in Idaho.  She has been awarded nearly $500 to purchase materials to incorporate hands on activities for teaching the revised set of Next Generation Science Standards.  The diverse materials will benefit almost 110 fourth grade students in four classrooms.

christine poulsenNWPE regional director Brenda Miller presented the award at a staff meeting.

Ms. Poulsen appreciates the grant and the choice that NWPE affords her for professional support without partisan agendas.  “I have belonged to several different professional organizations throughout my 25 year career.  I enjoy that NWPE allows me to be part of a professional organization that educates me on what’s happening in my field.  I believe that the local school district employees deserve to be associated with one another without a national or state organization pushing their agendas.  Belonging to a local association (affiliated with a state and national union) allows some of my money to support interest groups that I do not necessarily agree with.”

NWPE is proud to support Ms. Poulsen and wish her and the whole fourth grade at Kershaw Intermediate School lots of exciting activities with their new learning materials!
