                    Thursday, May 2, 2013, 3 pm EST;                     Webinar, Classroom Instruction That Works: Helping Students Develop Understanding; This session reviews new research from the second edition of Classroom Instruction That Works, including an updated instructional framework that helps teachers understand when and why to use each strategy to support student success. We will focus specifically on those strategies that help students activate background knowledge, connect new learning to previous learning, and better understand complex new information.                     Wednesday, May 8, 2013, 3 pm EST; Webinar, Common Core State Standards: Teaching ELA/Literacy to English-Language Learners, In this webinar, English-language acquisition experts from the Understanding Language initiative at Stanford University will share resources and advice to educators on how to deepen and accelerate the learning and instruction of English-language learners (ELLs), develop content-rich ELA/literacy lessons for ELLs and provide the varying levels of support ELLs will need to meet the new standards.                     Saturday, May 11, 2013; South Milwaukee High, Milwaukee, WI, Edcamp Milwaukee,Participants are encouraged to come with an idea for a session to lead or anticipation for a full day of learning.  A session could potentially explore anything related to education.  A session might explore a technology tool, a discussion about best practices or a collaborative presentation with multiple facilitators.
