Idaho Education News profiled the remarkable turnaround of Caldwell, Idaho’s, Heritage Community Charter School, a school with a great number of NWPE members.

After opening in the fall of 2011, no one knew if the school would reopen in September 2012.  “Money was scarce. The school’s board was in a state of upheaval. Its unaccredited high school pilot program ended. Heritage received an academic rating of just two of five stars from the Idaho Department of Education. The Idaho Public Charter School Commission, which authorizes the school, warned it was considering sanctions.”

Brenda Miller, NWPE Regional Director, and Kayce Cameron Ramirez, an NWPE member leader at the school, hosted a celebration reception at the school to honor the hard work of the NWPE members, their colleagues, and administrators who have made the school such a stunning success.
