While Ms. DeBoer’s school does have a classroom set of computers for every two classrooms, having the two Chromebooks in her own class will supply her students with easy access to technology and the use of the internet whenever they need it. She has encountered several instances where her students are in need of the computers but they are already being used. She teaches a total of 80 students and all of them would benefit from the added technology in her classroom. Ms. DeBoer believes that rewarding teachers who are committed to bettering themselves with professional development and other educational classes will enhance respect for the profession of education. “. . . When people see that continuing education pays (literally and figuratively) and teachers are constantly learning and perfecting their ’craft” of teaching," she believes that professionalism will rise.
