Eric Lichte, NWPE Member, Receives NWPE Grant
posted by: Cindy Omlin | April 18, 2013, 10:36 PM

We are proud to announce that Mr. Eric Lichte, an NWPE member and life skills teacher of 18-21 year old students at Gateway PREP in Nampa, ID, received a $250 classroom grant to build work/potting benches for the PREP Greenhouse which will serve as student workstations to prepare potting plants and manage tools.  Mr. Lichte noted, “The opportunity to work in a greenhouse not only develops skills but also provides experience for potential employment after the completion of the program. The greenhouse is an interactive classroom that not only teaches students but also teaches the community the capabilities of the students.”  Mrs. Brenda Miller presented the grant at a teacher staff meeting.

“NWPE is proud to reward educators for their hard work and creativity in the classroom.  Eric’s award is certainly well-deserved as she seeks ways to increase student achievement,” commented Cindy Omlin, NWPE Executive Director.

A member of NWPE for five years, Eric states, “I originally joined NWPE as a student teacher. The price structure was appropriate and I understood the importance of protecting my family and myself. When I received my first full time teaching position the significance of protecting my family did not change. The union representatives approached me on numerous occasions but I did not agree with the structure of their program. I wondered where the large memberships dues went since the liability coverage was less than what I received from NWPE. NWPE provides a program that is much more cost effective yet addresses all of the concerns that I have when it comes to teaching.”lichte workbench

We’re happy to provide Eric and his colleagues in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon with an option for professional protection and support for just $16.50 a month -- a savings of $400 over teacher union dues for twice the liability protection.lichte greenhouse

Congratulations to Eric and happy growing season to you and your students!
