Two Idaho Arts Charter School teachers and members of NWPE have received awards to advance student achievement and professional development.

The funds will be used to purchase math and language manipulatives which will provide kindergarten students with hands on, differentiated instructional opportunities.

Ms. Kelli Brown, and junior and senior high dance instructor, was awarded a $200 scholarship to attend the American Dance Festival Teacher Workshop and observe the Gabriella Charter School founded to provide a rigorous, standards-based K-8 academic program drawing upon the discipline, creativity and cognitive aspects of dance.

“Northwest Professional Educators is happy to provide these awards to enhance student learning,” said Cindy Omlin, NWPE Executive Director.  “NWPE is proud to reward educators for their hard work and creativity in the classroom.  The award is certainly well-deserved as Ms. Crowley and Brown seek ways to increase student achievement.”

Both teachers explain how having a choice of professional organizations benefits teachers, students, and public education as a free marketplace of ideas.

“Having a choice of professional organizations benefits teachers, students, and public education by providing an arena for the free exchange of ideas,” Stefanie noted.  “This system allows for educational networking that increases our professional knowledge and experiences.  In turn, our increased knowledge supports student achievement and public education as a whole.  When the community-at-large sees a professional organization, they have a higher regard for teachers as professionals.”  Kelli adds, “NWPE is an organization supporting educators through enhancement of professional standards and opportunities.”

Congratulations again to Stefanie and Kelli and thank you for all you do to advance student achievement and the professionalism of educators!
