“NWPE is proud to reward educators for their hard work and creativity in the classroom. Leora’s award is certainly well-deserved as she seeks ways to increase student achievement,” commented Cindy Omlin, NWPE Executive Director.
A member of NWPE for five years, Leora appreciates having a nonunion option for professionalism and protection. “When I began teaching, I joined the NEA/IEA. I appreciated the professional ‘protection’ offered, but was uncomfortable with some of the political views and activities of the organization. After a few years, I dropped the membership and purchased liability insurance through my membership in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Several years ago, I visited the NWPE booth at the Idaho Middle Level Association conference. I was impressed not only with the liability protection, but also with the pro-education stance and the focus on only educational issues. I appreciate the newsletters and professional resources as well.”
Congratulations to Leora and we hope you have a very rewarding trip and conference!
