Congratulations to Ms. Sandy Scott, NWPE member and Sage Valley Middle School math teacher in Caldwell, ID. Ms. Scott has been awarded a $300 Classroom Grant by NWPE. A recent member, Ms. Scott says her primary reasons for joining NWPE are “the professionalism, the insurance protection that I believe all teachers need, and the opportunity to learn from other professionals in the area.”
The activities and problems within the magazine, Ms. Scott explains, will help students develop skills through progressively more complex problems throughout the year. “I want my students to understand that math is everywhere and current stories are easy for students to make the connection.” We congratulate Ms. Scott for taking the extra effort to make her classroom math instruction more appealing and relevant to her students!
