Congratulations to Chloe Lucas, English teacher at Council Jr./Sr. High School in Idaho’s Council School District, on her $500 NWPE Classroom Grant to purchase Kindles and appealing Kindle books to expand the current resources available in the school and city libraries located in her small community. Ms. Lucas is the only English teacher at her small school. She noted that she joined NWPE because of the connections membership made available to her. “I sometimes feel like an English island, floating by myself in a sea of students. However, organizations like NWPE are lifelines as they offer advice, support, guidance, and ideas that help make me a better teacher. While I like having a variety of choices of professional organizations, I chose to join NWPE because I appreciate that it is based in the region that I live in and therefore feels local. It is important to me that my professional organization understands the issues that my students and I deal with daily and values the same things that we do.” NWPE is proud to support Ms. Lucas and applauds the care and concern she gives to expanding her students’ opportunities and her own through membership in NWPE!
