TeachIdaho and Northwest Professional Educators (NWPE) recently teamed up at the "Think Like an Entrepreneur" professional development workshop to engage teachers on how to best foster entrepreneurialism in their students.

Brenda Miller, NWPE Regional Director, recently had the pleasure of meeting one of her education heroes, Mr. Charles Best, the innovative, philanthropist founder of DonorsChoose.org.  He spoke at the June 8 Ed Sessions luncheon sponsored by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation where Brenda met him.  Ed Sessions is attended by teachers, community members, and lawmakers.

 
Quality Student Teaching Programs Increase Retention Rate

A recent study by the American Institute for Research found that 82 percent of new teachers who were trained in vigorous, long-term student teaching programs - such as the program by Chicago-based nonprofit Urban Teacher Residency United - were still in the teaching profession after 5 years on the job.

 
Union Attacks School Board Member for Sharing AAE

The Collier County Educator’s Association  (CCEA) in Florida has threatened to take legal action against school board member Kelly Lichter in an attempt to silence her efforts to make local educators aware of their professional options for association membership.
