Alert: Washington State Agency Fee Payer Objection Letter Deadline
posted by: Cindy Omlin | December 09, 2014, 11:34 PM

If you are an objecting agency fee payer who requests a rebate for union dues not used for representation purposes, this is a reminder to mail your letter by certified mail so that you have proof that the union received your objection/challenge letter requesting your $200-$300 rebate.

LETTERS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY DECEMBER 22

Current agency fee payers
:

Use the objection/challenge letter template available here.

New agency fee payers:

Use the resignation/objection/challenge letter here.   (Share with your colleagues.)

Information on union spending of member dues on activities other than representation is available on the "NEA: Politics and Power" flyer.

RELIGIOUS OBJECTOR EXPERIENCE?

If you are a religious objector and experienced difficulties getting that status granted, could you please let me know?  Most teachers experience having their request for religious objector status respectfully granted, but we want to know if you have received any push back from union representatives.

Religious objectors (those with moral or religious reasons for wanting to opt out of union membership) are allowed to send 100% of their union dues to a nonreligious charity.  Once granted, religious objectors do not have to send in annual requests as required of objecting agency fee payers.

For help with exercising the right to be a religious objector, see here.

SHARE: Please share this teacher union opt out rights flyer and the union resignation/objection/challenge letter with your colleagues and refer them to Northwest Professional Educators for the superior career protection and professional support we provide such as liability insurance, legal services, and other benefits that advance them as academic professionals.

Teachers have choices!  We hope you exercise them!
