A New School Year, Another Reason to Join (and use) Twitter
posted by: Cindy Omlin | August 24, 2011, 03:18 PM

As we energize a new set of students to tackle curriculum for their betterment, I hope we will do the same for ourselves as educators. And, in true form, I suggest Twitter as the curriculum that we should tackle.

Teachers ask me about why they should join Twitter. My brother, a junior high principal talked to me about whether he should support his teachers having accounts.

Watch Mrs. Ripp's (@pernilleripp) video on her blog post titled "Why Educators Should Join Twitter."

After the video, read Matt's comment supporting Twitter for teachers and click on the link for his blog post about Twitter and professional development (a guide for beginners).

Lastly, it's time to check out Cybraryman's "Twitter for Beginners" page. It will provide guidance, links, and hashtags for you to explore so that you familiarize yourself with the Twitter-verse.

I've said it once and I'll say it again; Twitter is a phenomenal tool for professional development. I invite you to make learning Twitter your New School Year resolution.
