NWPE Member Kim Zeydel, Idaho's 2015 Teacher of the Year!

NWPE is proud to congratulate Kim Zeydel, Idaho's 2015 Teacher of the Year!!  Kim, an NWPE member and teacher at Meridian Academy, West Ada School District's alternative school, was awarded the honor at an assembly in front of the school's 150 students by State Superintendent Tom Luna.  Other dignitaries who attended the assembly include Gov. Butch Otter, West Ada Superintendent Linda Clark, Meridian Mayor Tammy De Weerd, and several lawmakers.

 
NCTQ Releases 2014 State Teacher Policy Yearbook

Last week, the National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) released the 2014 State Teacher Policy Yearbook divulging teacher readiness as it relates to college and career standards.

Did you know that national goals push for an increase in nonfiction reading overtime from 50% in 4th grade, to 55% in 8th grade, and to 70% by 12th grade?

Mike Antonucci from the Education Intelligence Agency couldn’t have put it better when he said that for unions to really make great strides on behalf of Millenials in the teaching profession it “would require sacrificing the interests of those in the room for those still outside of the building.”
