Debunking Charter School Myths for Teachers in Treasure Valley

Teachers are often confused about charter schools and the support available to them.  Cut through the confusion!  On Tuesday, March 31, 7-8 pm at the Compass Charter School in Meridian, ID, the Idaho Charter School Network, charter administrators and NWPE are hosting an informational meeting for professional educators regarding public charter schools.

Pam Sutton Wins New Classroom Start Up Grant

Congratulations to Pamela Sutton, a first grade teacher at Marsing Elementary School in Marsing, ID, who was awarded one of Northwest Professional Educators (NWPE) $250 New Classroom Start-Up Grants.  Pam plans to purchase basic school supplies to help students learn organizational skills, creative expression, and confidence in writing. Brenda Miller, NWPE Regional Director, presented the award at a staff meeting.

 
St. Patrick - Teachable Moment in American History

Gateways to Better Education (GTBE) reports that the Orange County Board of Education passed a resolution "encouraging educators to teach students about the life and contributions of St. Patrick. The board highlighted Patrick's stance against slavery and "the need to still eradicate human trafficking in the United States and around the world." The board's resolution also emphasized his work in promoting literacy and literature as an important development in Western civilization."
