NWPE Member Clashes with Administration

The Oregonian reports that NWPE member Bill Diss, a pro-life teacher in Portland School District, Portland, OR, has been fired. Diss clashed with district administrators when they required him to facilitate presentations by Planned Parenthood.

School Violence Tip Lines

As the country honors the one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy last weekend, lawmakers, school administrators, teachers, and parents continue to work on improving school safety.  While we struggle to find a balance that keeps students safe, Lansing, Michigan legislators have found an interesting means of mitigating school violence –
a  tip line.

 
Lisa Young, NI-STEM Charter Academy, Wins NWPE Grant

Congratulations to Ms. Lisa Young, a middle school math and science teacher at North Idaho STEM Charter Academy, who has been awarded a $500 Classroom Grant to purchase a mat-cutting kit with safety knives and poster board.
