The Kansas Board of Regents recently reported that students who did not meet minimum requirement for college admission, but were accepted anyway, experienced low retention rates and mixed success in Kansas public colleges.

With the holiday season in full swing, your students are probably not the only ones looking forward to exchanging gifts. Whether it’s a gift card, a free coffee, or homemade Christmas goodies, almost every teacher looks forward to a gift from their school or students’ parents. However, before you rush out and purchase gifts for colleagues, check in with your school’s gift policies. According to reports, recent changes to school policies could potentially limit gifts teachers give and receive.

I have to admit, I’m a spoken-word type of person. I like attending lectures and prefer an audio book to music. In fact, I haven’t bought any new music for my iPod for years, even though I’m constantly trolling for something new and interesting to listen to. This is why podcasts quickly took over my listening.

 
Wisconsin Bill Aims to Increase Physical Activity

Between numerous changes to school lunch programs and First Lady Michelle Obama’s various healthy student initiatives, lawmakers and local schools are continuing to work toward programs that encourage healthy eating and exercise. In Wisconsin, Representative Chad Weininger of Green Bay is proposing a bill requiring elementary students to have at least thirty minutes of physical activity daily.
